Why giving matters

A ministry built on trust.

Hope Sojourns connects willing people with trusted ministries and meaningful opportunities to serve. Gifts can help us develop partnerships, prepare teams and interns, provide scholarships, create training resources, and respond to needs identified by local leaders.

Transparency is part of the ministry. We want every donor, traveler, church, and partner to understand who receives funds, what those funds support, and when a payment is a charitable gift rather than a purchase or trip payment.

Giving priorities

Three ways generosity can serve.

Specific opportunities will be described before gifts are accepted so donors can make informed decisions.

01

Build the ministry

Support partnership development, training, communications, safeguarding, administration, and the responsible growth of Hope Sojourns.

02

Send and prepare teams

Help provide participant scholarships, preparation resources, ministry supplies, local transportation, and other approved team needs.

03

Strengthen local partners

Contribute toward priorities identified by ministries already serving their communities, rather than imposing projects from outside.

Know the difference

How funds work.

Not every payment connected with a mission trip is a charitable contribution.

Give to the ministry

An unrestricted gift is received and controlled by Christian Steps Ministries and supports the ministry's overall mission. It does not reserve travel, purchase services, or provide a personal benefit.

Support a traveler

Support designated for a participant must follow the receiving organization's policies. The organization receiving charitable gifts must retain appropriate control over how those funds are used.

Pay for a trip

Trip payments may cover airfare, lodging, meals, insurance, transportation, ministry expenses, and coordination. Paying for travel or receiving services is different from making an unrestricted gift.

Hire Hope Sojourns

Churches, schools, ministries, or teams may purchase planning, training, internship, or coordination services. These service fees will be identified separately from charitable gifts and trip costs.

A simple promise: We will not call a payment a donation when it is actually paying for travel or services. Charitable gifts are received by Christian Steps Ministries, a registered 501(c)(3), and are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Our commitment

Transparency donors can expect.

Clear ownership

Christian Steps Ministries receives and controls charitable gifts supporting Hope Sojourns. EIN: 81-1678503.

Clear purpose

We will explain whether a gift is unrestricted, designated for a program, or connected with a specific ministry priority.

Separate costs

Donations, trip payments, pass-through travel costs, and Hope Sojourns service fees will be described separately.

Respectful reporting

Updates will focus on stewardship, partnership, and meaningful outcomes without exploiting the people or communities being served.

Honest administration

Reasonable operating and leadership expenses will not be hidden. Sustainable ministry requires responsible administration.

Questions are welcome

Donors and partners may ask how an opportunity is structured before deciding whether to participate.
